Founded in March 2009, the Centre d’expertise en gestion agricole (CEGA) is a non-profit organization that resulted from the agricultural community wanting to have a structure where all stakeholders involved in agricultural management are represented. The CEGA is a center of expertise whose main role is to support agricultural advisers, in particular management and financing advisers, through its monitoring and research functions as well as facilitation and training. The organization also monitors developments in agricultural economy and the business environment in which companies evolve and organizes training for advisors and producers.
In 2013, CEGA was given the additional mandate to develop a decision-making support tool for agricultural and agri-food businesses. This new mandate is complementary to that of stimulating the adoption of good management practices by the managers of these companies. At the end of 2016, the CEGA launched a business solution in agricultural management resulting from the discussions started in 2013: Aleop
The previous years have been rich in new projects in different spheres of activity of the agricultural industry. To date, the CEGA team is collaborating with the Éleveurs de Porcs du Québec, the IQDHO and other organizations to create and implement digital tools to facilitate access and management of business figures.
The CEGA Board of Directors is made up of several industry stakeholders who combine their very varied professional backgrounds; this greatly contributes to enriching the development of the organization.
